If this checks out, it looks like it could be a nice daily driver:

94M Edition
54,000 miles
Hardtop
Stock except for Hard Dog roll bar and stereo

Don't know about the language of "sought after" in the ad, but sounds decent, and looks decent.

Agree on nice driver comment.

U do realize that the Miata in question is a ... MONTEGO BLUE! Right?

PS: Nice car, VERY nice price!!!

Good price if no rust developing. Remember, since a hardtop is worth about $1k at any point in time the car is essentially selling for $4500. Talk him down to $5k total and you've made out pretty good.

^ Rust on a west coast car? Is that even possible?

Based on miles + hard top, sure I would negotiate. Yet I would not feel guilty if paying full asking price.

Yes.

Yes.

Let me rephrase, rust on a modern rust proofed frame built and designed in the '90's, is that possible?

I would think the design flaw in the Miata "rear-wheelwell-lower-rear-rocker" would be a potential problem anywhere in the country that gets its fair share of rain or moisture.

Plenty of moisture in FL where I'm from. Only "yankee" cars have that affliction. My first Miata was owned by someone who lived right on Clearwater Beach. After I bought it, it too lived in Clearwater Beach for 18 months, after having lived, Ventura Ca for another 18 months. It was sold as a 15 YO car with ZERO rust. Nothing, zip, nada.

I stopped by and looked it over today on my way back to Portland from Seattle. I am not a miata expert like alot of you guys, but I checked over to the best of my limited abilities, and overall it seemed a nice example of miata.

There are some scratches on the trunk from the owner trying to put the hardtop on by himself. Valve gasket was weeping. small separation on pasangers seat. Very nice and clear rear window(PO had it installed). Does have abs.

Felt like it drove and shifted fine, but I haven't spent much time in early 1.8s. Didn't help that I had spent most of the day test driving s2000s. And the owner seemed to get a little excited/worried when I would get the rpms anywhere over 5k, so I don't think he drove it real aggressively.

Nice car overall

Thanks for the update mlee.

I know there's not a lot of love lost on the '94 M's, but I like them and this sure seems like a fine example and a good deal at under 5 grand.

I think the Miata could be a decent buy for $5000 or so.

Never drove a S2000 before but if I owned one in my neighborhood the seats would probably be stolen out of it within hours. :)
