Buda Castle

Buda Castle, also known as the Hungarian Royal Palace has been burned, bombed, razed, rebuilt and redesigned at least six times over the past seven centuries. Reconstructed after the 2nd World War, it's now an amalgamation of 18th and early 20th century architecture. On our guided holidays to Budapest, we’ll have the opportunity to see this incredible structure with an expert guide. We’ll also enjoy plenty of free time to explore the castle at our own pace. We suggest walking through Ferdinand Gate to the Turkish cemetery or relaxing in the palace gardens behind the Budapest History museum.

The Thermal Baths

One of the most relaxing attractions for visitors to Budapest are its thermal spas. Because of its location atop over 120 hot springs, Budapest has been a spa destination dating back to Roman times. Some of the most famous include the neo-baroque palace of Széchenyi Thermal Baths, the Turkish-style Rudas Baths or the opulent Gellért Baths. With all these to choose from, it’s no wonder Budapest is known as ‘the City of Baths’! Our holidays to Budapest include plenty of free time to explore these baths at leisure.

Castle Hill

Budapest’s Castle Hill area is internationally recognised as a World Heritage Site and includes numerous must-see attractions. The premier destination for many visitors, this area contains many of Budapest's most important monuments and museums, including eighteenth-century Baroque houses and Habsburg monuments. On our trips to Hungary, we’ll explore Castle Hill’s winding, cobblestone streets with a local guide and enjoy plenty of free time to stop off at one of the numerous cafes and restaurants nearby for some refreshments. The area’s hilltop location also offers incredible views of Pest across the river Danube.

City Park

A visit to the 302 acre City Park in the centre of Budapest should be on every travellers to do list. Manicured gardens, beautiful ponds and several monuments and attractions, this park has something for everyone. The entrance is through Heroes' Square, which has the nation's most solemn monument - an empty coffin representing one of the unknown insurgents from the 1956 Uprising. In addition to historical tributes, the park also houses the Museum of Fine Arts, the Palace of Art, the Municipal Zoo and Vajdahunyad Castle. Explore all of these and more with plenty of free time on our trips to Budapest.

Budapest Guided Holidays

Budapest is comprised of the old cities of Buda and Pest, which today form one of the most important cities in the European Union. During our guided holidays to Budapest, we’ll take a guided stroll up Castle Hill to admire the World Heritage Site of Buda Castle and enjoy spectacular views of Pest city below. We’ll also have a chance to check out the Neo-Gothic architecture of Hungary’s Parliament building, which runs along the Danube riverfront. No holiday is complete without time to unwind, so our tours include plenty of free time to discover the city at a leisurely pace. We recommend spending the afternoon soaking in one of the cities many Turkish baths or take a stroll in the City Park to see Hero’s Square. Budapest will keep us busy with spectacular sights to explore at every turn, whether it’s a short weekend city break or a stop-over on a European River Cruise.
