Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all Human Resources functions for FMBA, including but not limited to:
    • Employee relations
    • Training and education
    • Compliance
    • Performance management
    • Workers’ compensation
  • Identify potential employment related issues and promptly inform the Chief People Officer and conduct and thoroughly document investigations as needed.
  • In conjunction with Recruiter and Staffing Specialist, conduct new hire orientations and onboarding for all full time and part time hires as well as for part time office and event staff.
  • Timely enter all new hires and personnel changes into the HRIS system, Dayforce, prior to applicable payroll deadlines.
  • Ensure that introductory communications are sent to the office when full-time employees are hired.
  • Maintain all employee files, including personnel, benefits, I-9, disciplinary actions, and workers compensation records.
  • Conduct background and MVR checks for employees, consulting with HR and legal teams as needed for individualized assessment process.
  • Work with F&M Bank Arena Public Safety department to coordinate building access for all staff.
  • Respond to all inquiries regarding employment opportunities and internships at F&M Bank Arena.
  • Serve as a beacon for Smashville’s culture, championing community and employee engagement initiatives and promoting the benefits and perks of working for the best employer in sports.
  • Partner with Payroll Director to process verifications of employment in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of employee appreciation events, staff holiday parties, Hearts of Gold (charity) initiatives, etc.
  • Manage and respond to employee complaints, concerns, and personnel issues.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director of Human Resources and/or Chief People Officer, conduct internal investigations, administer corrective actions for F&M Bank Arena staff, and, where applicable, process terminations for staff, which includes but is not limited to completing necessary paperwork, gathering documentation, and updating internal records.
  • Educate staff regarding benefits offered to full-time employees, and respond to inquiries pertaining to company benefits, including but not limited to claims, network, ID cards, and carrier access.
  • Assist HR with annual company-wide performance management and review process, as well as the annual open enrollment process.
  • Educate staff regarding the Company’s 401k retirement plan and facilitate online enrollment and communication to payroll for deduction purposes.
  • In conjunction with Senior Director of Human Resources and legal counsel, manage ADAAA accommodation process.
  • In conjunction with the Intern Coordinator, manage SS&E Intern program, known as Sports Education 101.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.A. Degree required, concentration in Human Resources preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft programs (Excel, Word and Access).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based payroll/HR software a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of employee classifications (FLSA status, independent contractor, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented.
  • Ability to work with sensitive data and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • The selected candidate must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • As a condition of employment, qualified applicants will be subject to a background check, including a criminal history check, driving history and character references.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by SS&E’s insurance carrier (without conditions).

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Physical activities include sitting, walking and standing for prolonged periods of time, as well as bending, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, balancing and handling of materials.
  • Lifting requirements – must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • High finger dexterity.
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, and loud noise.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent speaking and listening skills, requiring the perception of speech.
