Ohhh, St. Patrick’s Day. If you know me, you know it ranks right up there AS one of my least favorite holidays on Earth.

I mean, I’m sure at its core it’s a fabulous holiday; but for most people these days, it’s really just an excuse for getting wasted. Especially in Boston where Irish wannabes on St. Patrick’s Day are pretty much the worst. And the drunkest. Relax, people. Seriously. There are 364 other days in the year for you to drink; no need to fit it all in one day.

I don’t know about you, but I never need an excuse for a martini. Holiday or no holiday, I’ll have a martini (or three) when I want one. I don’t need a parade to accompany my drinking. Thankyouverymuch. But I will certainly take a leprechaun's birthday as an excuse to drink one.

Back in 2014, General Mills celebrated Lucky the Leprechaun's 50th birthday with a box of Lucky Charms with all green marshmallows. And over the years they've continued to make and sell them in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

Which is very lucky for us. Because it means we can continue to make this Lucky Charms co*cktail! They sent me a martini recipe, too, and I tweaked it a bit and am sharing it here with you!

How to Make Lucky Charms Martini

I normally stay far, far away from bright green drinks. But this? This St. Patrick's Day martini is different. This is green from Lucky Charms and that makes it OK.

If you can't find all green Lucky Charms, you can certainly use the multi-colored boxes and pick out the green marshmallows. Or you can choose a different color... A purple Lucky Charms martini would be fun, too!

This co*cktail is super simple to make and just consists of a crushed cereal rim and a marshmallow infused sparkling vodka drink. After rimming your glass with cereal, just put the marshmallows at the bottom...

And pour in the vodka and soda water. I recommend plain vodka as the marshmallows give it a nice light sweet flavor.

But if you want to use vanilla vodka, the co*cktail will have even more of a marshmallow-y taste!

Seriously, how fun are these Lucky Charms martinis?? Lucky Charms really just make life better. Whether it’s in your cereal bowl or in a martini glass. Or in the million of other desserts I like to make with Lucky Charms!

There’s just something about marshmallows. When is Lucky Charms going to start selling a cereal that’s all marshmallows? I’m ready. I'm also ready for restaurants everywhere to add a Lucky Charms martini to their menus. Or other Lucky Charms co*cktails.

Why not just make an entire Lucky Charms restaurant? omg can I be the chef?? Or I guess baker would be more appropriate. And bartender, too.

I mean, drinking this St. Patrick's Day martini is kind of like when you’re done eating your cereal and you slurp up all the milk. Except instead of slurping marshmallow-tinged milk, you’re slurping vodka, here. Vodka > Milk, yes? YES.

This drink is perfectly sweet and a little bit sparkly. I don't think I've ever added soda water to a martini before, but it definitely helps cut the sweetness here a little bit!

More Lucky Charms Recipes

In case you can't tell, I'm obsessed with the marshmallow-packed cereal and am always looking for more ways to incorporate it into desserts and drinks. Here are some of my very favorite Lucky Charms recipes:

And now, go enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day weekend. What are you doing to celebrate? Aside from drinking more Lucky Charms martinis, I’ll just be eating corned beef and cabbage. And then probably these Corned Beef Melts.

I clicked into this post just to see what the comments were. Maybe it's because I am not a lucky charms cereal eater---but boy howdy this sounded icky. However, it really is not fair to comment until I try it I guess. However, it's a pretty cute idea for St Pat's day and building on the flavored martini craze, which I do like
