The Red Lobster in Wauwatosa is officially shut down, and it's not the only one. It appears the southeastern Wisconsin location is one of roughly 50 Red Lobsters shutting down nationwide. The only other Wisconsin location is in La Crosse.WISN 12 News crews spotted people coming in and out of the Wauwatosa business Tuesday as only a handful of hopeful customers showed up outside, disappointed by the unexpected closure. The front doors are locked with a sign that says the restaurant is closed. "Haven't been here in a long, long time, and I like their cheddar bay biscuits," Mike Glisch said. "I got to the door, and I can't say it on camera. That's what my reaction was."The closures come as the former casual dining powerhouse is reportedly considering filing for bankruptcy. Now, TAGeX, one of the leaders in restaurant liquidation, said some of the contents inside these shuttered Red Lobsters are now up for auction. That includes the Wauwatosa location. "If someone is opening, remodeling, closing, we manage those kind of life cycle events, and one dimension of that is when people are closing, we help to sell the surplus assets," TAGeX founder and CEO Neal Sherman told WISN 12 News. The one highest bidder will land everything up for auction inside the closed seafood restaurant including booths, bar stools and even the lobster tank. Bidding goes through Thursday, and pick-up is Friday.
